A local guide takes you on a journey cycling through old-town Tono and the heart of the village's beautiful farmland. take a break at a traditional farmhouse, and finish up with a lunch at the farmhouse restaurant with delicious craft beer.

  Countryside Cycling-1

  Orientation & Cycling: 2 hours

  Bikes will be assigned following check-in at Tono Travel Delicatessen and a brief orientation.
  
  Located in Iwate Prefecture, Tono is responsible for one-sixth of all hops produced in Japan. The town itself actively integrates the culture surrounding hop production into the experience of its visitors, both through locally produced beers as well as tours and other programs. With its distincitve history and stunning natural landscape, Tono is a true gem hidden in the Japanese countryside.
  
  The cycling trip begins in old-town Tono, continuing onto a well-maintained cycling path connecting the town with the expansive farmland surrounded by a mountainous backdrop. This course is a 13km ride in total, cruising along with the guide setting a pace gentle enough to take in all of the beauty.
  
  Meeting Location: Tono Travel Delicatessen (2-3 Shinkokucho, Tono, Iwate)

  Farmhouse Rest Stop

  Rest & Cycling: 40min

  Stop by at Agriturismo Omori, a traditional farmhouse inn, for a homemade specialty beverage reflecting the seasonal harvest. An organic tomato harvest can be experienced during summer months.

  Countryside Cycling-2

  Farm Visit & Cycling: 1 hour 10min

  Between July and August leading up to harvest season, the hops grow into tall, beautiful colums forming an expansive green curtain.

  Harvest Lunch & Craft Beer

  Lunch: 1 hour 50min

  Craft beer awaits back at Agriturismo Omori, with a homemade lunch prepared using an abundance of fresh seasonal harvests. After lunch, a taxi ride back into town will drop you off right at Tono Travel Delicatessen.
